Job Title: Cantonese Ministry Pastor, Full-Time

Church: Pacific Grace MB Church

B. Position Summary

Provide spiritual leadership, preaching, pastoral care, and administrative oversight for the Cantonese-speaking congregation. The Cantonese Ministry Pastor will collaborate with the Pastoral Team and assist the Senior Pastor to lead the church in alignment with its mission, vision, and theological convictions, while also bridging generational and cultural gaps within the Chinese community and across the mainstream culture of Canada.

C. Qualifications

1. Spiritual & Theological Emphasis

• A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, characterized by humility, integrity, and a passion for serving others
• Agreement with the church’s statement of faith and mission
• A Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological education from an accredited seminary
• Candidates who are not MB credentialed must be willing to go through the credentialing process within the first two years of service

2. Language & Communication

• Fluency in Cantonese (spoken and written) required
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin preferred (for communication with church leaders, staff, and multi-congregation, and community)

3. Pastoral & Ministry Experience

• Minimum 3 years of pastoral experience, preferably with local Cantonese-speaking congregations
• Strong pastoral skills in preaching, teaching, discipling, and counselling within a church context
• Experience in working with multi-language ministry teams
• Strong leadership skills in working with lay leaders and ministry teams
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative setting, teaming up with other pastors, staff, deacons, and ministry leaders
• Demonstrated ability to shepherd and care for a multigenerational Cantonese congregation

4. Relational & Cultural Competency

• Deep understanding of Chinese culture and issues relevant to Chinese immigrants and their families
• Ability to navigate intergenerational and intercultural ministry dynamics (e.g., bridging relationships with English and Mandarin congregations)

D. Responsibilities

1. Preach regularly in Cantonese worship services
2. Provide pastoral care (visitation, counselling, crisis support) and spiritual empowerment particularly among young adults, families, and seniors
3. Lead Sunday school, Bible studies, discipleship groups, and prayer meetings
4. Mentor and equip lay leaders for ministry
5. Plan and organize outreach and evangelism efforts among Cantonese-speaking communities
6. Work closely with the pastoral team in church-wide vision and planning
7. Participate in staff meetings, inter-congregational collaboration, and denominational activities

E. Salary Range

$55,000-65,000 per year
